She particularly enjoys activities involving children, the elderly, and cancer patients & survivors, who impart new perspectives on life. Gardening, art and volunteer service fill the hours and serve to fuel her life-long passion for writing. Rediscovering the world through the eyes of her inner child keeps her imagination fresh.

Airing My Dirty Laundry: I Was a Nude Model
Roberta McReynolds writes: My mother asked me, out of the blue, to model for a painting she wanted to do ... minus clothing. Ever so slowly I turned my head 90 degrees to peer at this strange woman who looked and sounded exactly like my mother. Yet how could this be? Once my mother had effectively shamed me to the core with a single laser-beam glare from across the room because I had shortened the hem of one of my dresses above the knees. All my friends were sporting mini-skirts while I wore clothes more appropriate for a middle-aged woman. So, who was this woman and was I even in the right house? more »
The Upheaval of a Broken Bar Stool and a 70-Gallon Fish Tank
Roberta McReynolds writes: At one point Mike tripped over the hose I was using to siphon water. It jerked out of my hands and sprayed water on the carpet and ... (you guessed it) ... the end of the new sofa. My recliner, to be exact. Fortunately the fabric had been treated to repel spills, but it didn't repel the psychological trauma in my mind. Ick! Jerry, our neighbor, grabbed one of the many towels I had spread out and wiped the sofa as I grabbed the hose and speculated about how high my blood pressure had just spiked.

The Shopping Trip: Cutting Table Wars

Just in case you have never personally experienced the 'cutting table wait', the odds are that no matter how many people are ahead of you, the person who is buying a shopping cart filled to capacity with quilting fabric will have edged ahead of you by a nanosecond. You will end up cursing yourself for wasting that extra minute after getting distracted by a sale on yarn, a special on notions, or some other devious merchandise display. more »
Domino Effect: Restoring, Backing Up, Collecting All Those Scattered Data Pieces and Photos, Oh My!
Roberta McReynolds writes: The very process of attempting to simplify data storage creates questions and problems I never encounter when I merely toss papers into a box to sort later. Admittedly that system also has drawbacks beyond the obvious fact that I can't locate, let alone remember, 80% of what’s in all those cardboard containers. Besides the risk of a fire hazard, it looks like I’m erecting a monument to hoarding. more »
